In the spring of 2015, a strong earthquake struck Nepal. The destruction was widespread and the casualties in the thousands.
Due to a serious lack of resources, several affected areas were left without any reconstructive efforts and many areas are still in ruins today.
In Thamel, a group of local men and women decided to start rebuilding on their own. The decided to form a group. They called themselves the “Thamel Ga Hi Ti Yuva Club”.
What started out as a local initiative, eventually led to the involvement of the Nepal government and proper resources. What started out as a genuine desire to make life better for everyone, eventually became a reality.
Thamel Ga Hi Ti Yuva Club is a friend based initiative that shows that improvement is possible even when resources are severely limited.
